On January 26, 1841, during the First Opium War, the British captured Hong Kong Island, and gradually encroached on Hong Kong.

Hong Kong was ceded to the United Kingdom under the “Nanjing Treaty”, “China-British Treaty of Beijing” and “Special Provisions on the Extension of Hong Kong’s Sites”.
